Shkrim i Vladimir Duraj, publikuar ne gazeten “Dita”, Shqiperi: Profesor dhe Dr Tritan Kalo, shqiptari “Zhong Nanshan”, eshte nje simbol, embleme, dhe nje legjende e gjalle ne fushen e mjekesise. 

 

The writing of Vladimir Duraj, published on January 13 in the newspaper “Dita”:

Tritan Kalo, the Albanian “Zhong Nanshan”, is a symbol, an emblem, a living legend in medicine.

 

Kuçova, my birthplace, with great values where, among other things, gratitude has always valued hardworking people, just individuals, intellectuals, oil workers, aviators, the sons and daughters who have given their lives, such as Muhamet Shehu, Myrteza Kepi, Niko Hoxha, Asbi Seriani, Stliano Tanku, Donald Hoxha, Vasil Trasha, or those distinguished in their achievements. But today, in this writing, I saw that our Kuçova also values the great contribution of Professor Dr. Tritan Kalo, a symbol, emblem, and living legend in medicine.

 

Regarding his meeting with colleagues, residents, nurses, and the administrative staff of the Infectious Diseases Service of QSUNT on the day of his retirement, Prof. Dr. Tritan Kalo, among other things, wrote:

“If I had been given the right opportunities, I would have liked to contribute even more to the quality of medical care for the sick, as well as to the dissemination of knowledge to colleagues, residents, and students, given the heavy burden of life and scientific experience I carry on my shoulders.”

The case of Dr. Tani (Tritan Kalo) closely resembles that of the Chinese scientist Zhong Nanshan, about whom our ambassador in Beijing, Selim Belortaja, wrote on his Facebook page on 22.02.2020:

“The ‘General’ leading the research operation against the epidemic in China, pulmonologist and epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan, is known as a hero of the fight against SARS in 2003, voted as one of China’s 10 greatest scientists (2010), without hesitation even to criticize when necessary. The National Health Commission found him and placed him at the head of the expert group racing against time in the fight against the COVID-19 Coronavirus. As the leader of this effort, he was also given the microphone as the spokesperson for this war! And who better than him to explain it?”

Indeed, Zhong Nanshan, a scientist in China, and Tritan Kalo, a scientist in Albania—Zhong was nonconformist, criticizing when necessary, and Tritan was more than nonconformist, with the Hippocratic oath as his only bible. Zhong and Tritan have many similarities, but the behavior of their respective governments towards them was not the same. Zhong was promoted to “general” with universal carte blanche, while Tritan remained a simple soldier of the “empire.” In fact, officially he remained such for the government, but de facto and in the eyes of the people, Dr. Tritan was seen as a general above generals.

There are thousands of patients from every corner of Albania who felt and experienced firsthand the human and professional care of Dr. Tritan, his “signature” in helping them overcome the life-threatening virus.

For this reason, Gjirokastra, Elbasan, and Kuçova awarded Dr. Tritan the high title of “Honorary Citizen.” It was the residents of these cities who requested that the local authorities honor Dr. Tritan with this high title, as a sign of gratitude for what he did and continues to do for their lives and for all Albanians.

The praises for Dr. Tritan were unanimous, from all angles and from everyone, starting from the simplest and most impoverished to well-known names for intellect and social standing. I will again quote Ambassador Belortaja, who in the same writing on 20.02.2020, wrote:

“The question now is: do we have someone similar? It doesn’t matter if they’re not exactly of this caliber. Do we know who the best in this field is? Let’s call them, place them at the head of a special preventive board, give them a fivefold salary, let them choose their own team of experts, let them speak and give competent instructions, executive orders for airports, terminals, planes and ferries, hospitals, concessions, including orders with strong… budgetary effects. Let’s not hesitate over age: Zhong Nanshan has long turned 83 years old.”

There is no doubt that in these lines Dr. Tritan Kalo is identified as the central figure of Albanian medicine in this field, the de facto “general” of the Albanian army in the fight against the “plague” of COVID-19. Decoded, the above lines of the ambassador read: yes, we have someone similar to Zhong Nanshan; his name is Tritan Kalo. Call him, government, place him at the head of this work, give him carte blanche for everything, fivefold his salary, promote him to “general.” This is what Ambassador Selim Belortaja wrote during the “dance” of COVID-19.

“Tritan Kalo, one of the most distinguished doctors, noble in his entire being, erudite and passionate about science and books, careful to convey precisely the message people were waiting for, of hope; to be part of their pain, but also the courage that everything could be faced,” says Bedri Islami in support of Tritan Kalo for being awarded the title “Person of the Year.”

I could bring many more appreciative opinions about Dr. Tritan, but this would not change his essence. His greatness, nobility, professional and human excellence, remarkable erudition, simplicity as the cherry on top, honesty, and manly character in Dr. Tani are axioms, and as such, are universally accepted without the need for validation. Dr. Tritan Kalo, Infectologist, Tropicologist, Reanimator, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Master of the Grand Order, has a lifelong career in medicine. He is a symbol, an emblem, a living legend in medicine. He and excellent medicine are synonymous with each other. This is why I do not describe his life as is usually done in such writings, as I assume there is no Albanian who cannot guess that Tani Kalo was born to reach the heights, raised alongside first place, with “Golden Diplomas,” with superlative recognition wherever he has worked—in Albania, France, or Canada.

The above is what I wrote to the prime minister on the eve of Dr. Tani’s (Tritan Kalo) retirement, and with a justified sense of outrage, I continued:

“- So, you already know all of this, prime minister. You recognize his value, greatness, nonconformism, strong character, human and professional superiority, his brilliance, and in the end, you should appreciate him. You do appreciate him, prime minister; you value him as a diamond on the other side, who doesn’t lick boots, doesn’t flatter, doesn’t bow, and can’t be bought—and that’s enough to abandon, ignore, and belittle him. But you are mistaken, dear sir! In the ‘battle’ with Dr. Tani, the one who loses is the opponent. If you had kept the scientist Tritan Kalo in work, the winner would have been you, the country, the people.

Albania needs Tritan Kalo more than it needs a prime minister, and even more so than it needs a minister or a director. Therefore, you would do well to reconsider with common sense the ‘decision’ to retire him.

An erudite and distinguished figure in Albanian medicine, with an invaluable role and contribution in facing the global pandemic caused by COVID-19, where, with professionalism, dedication, and humanity, he continues to work, saving lives, including the lives of people from Kuçova among many others from all over Albania.

Tritan Kalo is a national asset. With what he is and does in service to the people and the country, he is as much Tirana’s as he is Gjirokastra’s, as much Elbasan’s as he is Kuçova’s, as much Shkodra’s as he is Vlora’s. He belongs not only to himself but to all of Albania.

This is one of those rare cases where, to present someone, there is no need for a ‘biography’; simply saying his name is enough, and any Albanian knows who you’re talking about.

Nevertheless, I will bring two opinions here, from Bedri Islami and Petrit Ago, both well-known and successful names:

‘- Tritan Kalo, one of the most distinguished doctors, noble in his entire being, erudite and passionate about science and books, careful to convey exactly the message people were waiting for—of hope; to be part of their pain, but also of the courage that everything could be overcome,’ says Bedri Islami in support of Tritan Kalo for ‘Person of the Year.’

Meanwhile, Petrit Ago says in one of his comments:

‘Prof. Dr. Tritan Kalo, with his simplicity, professionalism, humanity, and persistence, gave me the chance to begin a second life. Eternal gratitude!’

Such considerations are expressed daily, by the thousands, from across the country. But of particular ‘interest’ is the recognition from the people of Kuçova, and that recognition is not lacking. There are numerous cases from Kuçova where people have felt and experienced Dr. Tritan’s care and professionalism, and there are even more who support honoring and valuing him!

In the context of this proposal, we also sought the opinion of some of our doctors, including Teodor Kote, Elena Gjonbalaj, Mimoza Velikaj, Eni Dhame, Mimoza Caca, and Ermelinda Nito, all of whom spoke in superlatives about Dr. Tritan, the doctor who risked his life to save others…

This is how Dr. Eni Dhame expressed herself:

‘There are few words that can do justice to great people like Prof. Tritan. Always available, professional, humane, respectful—it’s a privilege to know him and even more so to be treated by him. Such professionals bring pride to Albanian medicine and are at the same time so very necessary for it.'”

Tritan Kalo, “Zhong Nanshani” shqiptar

Për takimin me kolegët, specializantët, infermjerët dhe personelin administrativ të Shërbimit të Sëmundjeve Infektive të QSUNT – së në ditën e daljes në pension, Prof Dr Tritan Kalo, mes të tjerave, shkruante :

“Nëse do të më ishin krijuar hapësirat e duhura, unë do të doja të kontribuoja edhe më shumë, për cilësimin e ofrimit të përkujdesit mjekësor ndaj të sëmurëve, si dhe në dijedhënien për kolegët, specializantët dhe studentët, meqënëse kam mbi supe një barrë të madhe eksperience jetësore dhe shkencore.”

Relativisht rasti i Dr Tanit ngjan si dy pika uji me rastin e shkencëtarit kinez Zhong Nanshan, për të cilin, ambasadori ynë në Pekin, Selim Belortaja, shkruan në faqen e tij të facebook, më 22.02.2020:

“Gjenerali” që drejton operacionin kërkimor ndaj epidemisë në Kinë, Pulmonologu dhe epidemiologu  Zhong Nanshan njihet si hero i luftës kundër SARS-it ne 2003, i votuar si një nga 10 shkencëtarët më të mëdhenj të Kinës (2010) pa hezituar edhe të kritikojë kur e desh puna. Komisioni Kombëtar i Shëndetit e gjeti dhe e vuri në krye të grupit të ekspertëve që vrapojnë në një garë kohe kundër Koronavirusit COVID-19. Si 1-shi i asaj pune atij i është lënë edhe mikrofoni i zëdhënësit te asaj lufte! E kush më mirë se ai mund të shpjegojë?”

E pra, Zhong Nanshan shkencëtar në Kinë, Tritan Kalo shkencëtar në Shqipëri, Zhongu antikonformist, kritikonte kur duhej, Tritani mëse antikonformist që bibël ka vetëm betimin e Hipokratit. Zhongu dhe Tritani kanë shumë ngjashmëri mes tyre, po sjellja e pushteteve respektive ndaj tyre nuk ishte e njëjtë. Zhongu u gradua “gjeneral” me kartabianke universale, Tritani mbeti një ushtar i thjeshtë i “perandorisë”. Në fakt, i tillë mbeti de jure, për pushtetin, sepse de fakto dhe ne sytë e popullit, Dr Tritani shihej si gjeneral e kaluar gjeneralit. Janë me mijëra pacientët nga çdo skaj i Shqipërisë që ndjenë dhe prekën me dorë kujdesin njerëzor dhe profesional të Dr Tritanit, “firmën” e tij për të dalë fitues mbi virusin jetëmarrës.

Është për këtë arsye që Gjirokastra, Elbasani dhe Kuçova i akorduan Dr Tritanit titullin e lartë “Qytetar Nderi”. Ishin banorë të këtyre qyteteve ata që kërkuan nga pushteti vendor nderimin e Dr Tritanit me këtë titull të lartë, në shenjë mirënjohje për atë çfarë ai bëri e bënte për jetën e tyre dhe të  të gjithë shqiptarëve.

Vlerësimet për Dr Tritanin ishin në 360⁰, për gjithçka dhe nga të gjithë, duke filluar nga më i thjeshti e më i vobekti e deri te firma të njohura për mendje e pozitë shoqërore. Po citoj pësëri ambasadorin Belortaja, i cili po në shkrimin e mësipërm  të 20.02.2020, shkruan :

“Pyetja tani është: e kemi ne një të ngjashëm? S’ka rëndësi edhe në se s’është tamam ky kalibër. A e njohim ne më të mirin e kësaj fushe? Ta thërresim, ta vemë në krye të një bordi special parandalues, t’i japim rrogë 5-fishe, ta lemë ta zgjedhë vetë skuadrën e ekspertëve, të flasë e japë porosi kompetente, urdhra ekzekutivë për aeroportin, terminalet, avionet e tragetet, spitalet, konçensionet, përfshi edhe urdhra me efekt të fortë .. buxhetor. Mos hezitojmë për punë moshe: Zhong Nanshan i ka mbushur me kohë 83 vjeç.”

Nuk ka asnjë dyshim që në këto rreshta identifikohet Dr Tritan Kalo, figura qendrore e mjekësisë shqiptare në këtë zhanër, “gjenerali” de fakto i ushtrisë shqiptare në luftë kundër “murtajës” COVID-19. Të dekriptuara, rreshtat e mësipërme të ambasadorit, lexohen : po, ne e kemi të ngjashmin me Zhong Nanshan, ai quhet Tritan Kalo.

Thirre, qeveri, vendose në krye të kësaj pune, jepi kartabiankë në gjithçka, 5 – fishoja rrogën, gradoje “gjeneral”. Këto shkruante ambasadori Selim Belortaja ne kohën e “vallzimit” të COVID-19.

“Tritan Kalo, njëri ndër mjekët më të shquar, fisnik në të gjithë qënien e tij, erudit dhe pasionant pas shkencës dhe librit, i kujdesshëm për të përcjellë pikërisht atë mesazh që njerëzit prisnin, të shpresës; për të qënë pjesë e dhimbjes së tyre, por edhe e guximit se gjithçka mund të përballohej” – thotë Bedri Islami në mbështetje të Tritan Kalos për dhenien e titullit “Njeriu i Vitit”.

Mund të sillja shumë e shumē opinione vlerësuese për Dr Tritanin, por kjo nuk do ta ndryshonte qenien e Tij. Madhështia, fisnikëria, përsosmëria profesionale dhe humane, erudicioni i spikatur, thjeshtësia si qershia mbi tortë, ndershmëria dhe karakteri i tij burrëror te Dr Tani janë aksiomë dhe si të tilla gjithëpranohen pa pasur nevojë për vërtetim. Dr. Tritan Kalo, mjek Infektolog, Tropikolog, Reanimator, Doktor i Shkencave Mjeksore, Profesor i Associuar, Mjeshtër i Madh, ka një jetë në mjekësi.

Ai është simbol, emblemë, legjendë e gjallë në mjekësi, Ai dhe Mjeku ekselent nënkuptojnē njēri tjetrin. Është kjo arsyeja që nuk po ia përshkruaj jetën siç bëhet rëndom në shkrime të tilla, presupozoj se nuk ka shqiptar qe nuk merr me mend se Tan Kalo është lindur për të kapur majat, është rritur duke qënë vëlla me vendin e parë, me “Diploma Ari”, me vlerësime superlative kudo ku ka punuar, në Shqipëri, Francë apo Kanada.

Sa më sipër i shkruaja kryeministrit në prag të pensionimit të Dr Tanit dhe me një revoltë të justifikuar, vijoja :

“- E pra, sa më sipër i dini dhe Ju, kryeministër, ia njihni vlerat, madhështinë, antikonformizmin, karakterin e fortë, superioritetin njerëzor e profesional, gjenialitetin e tij dhe në finale duhet ta çmonit. Ju e çmoni, kryeministër, e vlerësoni si një diamant të krahut tjetër, që nuk lëpihet, nuk serviloset, nuk përkulet, nuk blihet dhe këto janë të mjaftueshme për ta abandonuar, injoruar, nepërkëmbur. Por gaboni, i nderuar! Në “luftën” me Dr Tanin, i humburi është kundërshtari. Ta mbaje ende në punë shkencëtarin Tritan Kalo, i fituari do të ishit ju, vendi, populli.

Shqipëria ka nevojë për Tritan Kalon më shumë se sa për një kryeministër e aq më teper për një minister apo drejtor, ndaj do bënit mirë ta shihnit me bonsens “vendimin” e pensionimit të tij.

Personalitet erudit dhe i shquar i mjeksisë mbarëshqiptare, me rol dhe kontribut të paçmuar në përballjen me pandeminë botërore shkaktuar nga covid – 19, ku me profesionalizëm, përkushtim dhe humanizëm vazhdon të punojë duke shpëtuar edhe jetë kuçovarësh mes shumë jetëve të tjera nga e gjithë Shqipëria.

Tritan Kalo është një aset kombëtar, Ai, me atë çfarë është e bënë në shërbim të popullit e vendit, është sa tiranas, aq edhe gjirokastrit, sa Elbasanas aq edhe kuçovar, sa shkodran aq edhe vlonjat, sa i vehtes aq edhe i Shqipërisë.

Është nga rastet e rralla kur për të prezantuar dikë nuk është nevoja për “biografi”, mjafton të thuash emrin dhe cilido shqiptar e di për kë bëhet fjalë.

E megjithëse kështu, dy prononcime do t’i sjellë këtu, nga Bedri Islami dhe Petrit Ago, emra të njohur e të suksesshëm edhe këta :

“- Tritan Kalo, njëri ndër mjekët më të shquar, fisnik në të gjithë qënien e tij, erudit dhe pasionant pas shkencës dhe librit, i kujdesshëm për të përcjellë pikërisht atë mesazh që njerëzit prisnin, të shpresës; për të qënë pjesë e dhimbjes së tyre, por edhe e guximit se gjithçka mund të përballohej – thotë Bedri Islami në mbështetje të Tritan Kalos për “Njeriu i Vitit”.

Ndërsa Petrit Ago thot në një koment të tij :

“Prof Dr Tritan Kalo, me thjeshtësinë, profesionalizmin, humanizmin, këmbënguljen e tij bëri që unë të filloj një jetë të dytë. Mirënjohje deri në vdekje!”

Të tilla konsiderata janë të përditshme, janë me mijëra dhe nga i gjithë vendi. Por me “interes” do të ishte konsiderata e kuçovarëve dhe ajo nuk mungon. Janë të shumta rastet nga Kuçova që kanë ndjerë e prekur kujdesin dhe profesionalizmin e Dr Tritanit, janë shumë më të shumtë ata që janë pro nderimit e vlerësimit të Tij!

Në kontekst të këtij propozimi kërkuam edhe mendimin e disa prej mjekëve tanë si Teodor Kote, Elena Gjonbalaj, Mimoza Velikaj, Eni Dhame , Mimoza Caca dhe Ermelinda Nito, të cilët folën me superlativa për punën e dr Tritanit, mjekut që rrezikonte jetën për të shpëtuar jetë…ja si u shpreh dr Eni Dhame :

“Janë të pakta fjalët që mund të thuhen për njerëz të mëdhenj si Prof. Tritani. I gjendshëm në çdo kohë, profesionalist, human, i respektueshëm, është fat ta njohësh e për më tepër të trajtohesh prej tij. Të tillë profesionalistë i shtojnë krenarinë mjekësisë shqipetare dhe janë njëkohësisht kaq shumë të nevojshëm për të.”
